The Lilac Bushes of Highland Park

Wet flowers in the park
Purple Lilacs
We pondered for awhile what makes Rochester the lilac capitol of the world. Surely some scandanavian mountain top has more lilacs than us. Perhaps, Katie or Adam wondered, we have the largest variety of them?
Hiiiiiiiiiiyyaaaaaaa!

Mmmmmm fried dough
Katie and I had been craving fried dough for weeks, so upon entering the sea of tents, we immediately found the fried dough stand. As it turns out, I had been craving a funnel cake, not fried dough, and Katie called me a traitor (read about the difference here). They were insanely delicious, but soon after we'd finished, we both felt like puking.
Pals in purple
Well, Katie's in purple, and Adam's in front of purple plants
Deep Fried Oreos
IDK about those . . . and we didn't stop to find out, either. Maybe some day. When I don't care about cardiac arrests.

Kettle Corn Queue
It was a half-hour wait to get popcorn, so even though we'd pooled our money and realized we COULD buy some, we didn't feel like waiting.
Margaritaville Sign
So the guy at this booth, upon seeing me aim my camera, comes running out saying "no picture! no picture!" But too late, I'd already pressed the shutter, so I simply said "oh, sorry" and we walked off. As if this is so original that I need a photo to want to copy this :: rolls eyes :: I then proceeded to launch into a rant about photography in public places to poor Katie and Adam
The Lilac Festival
Highland park, Rochester, NY It was a chilly day, but Katie, Adam, and I went anyways.
Katie and Saski
Kid at the fair
The way Saskia the whale was packaged, she looked like she was swimming in the plastic bag. Adam proudly carried her around as if he'd won her at a midway game. Little kids who HAD won real-for-sure fish at midway games saw Adam and Saskia from a distance, their eyes would open a little wider, they'd look at their own, and we just knew they were wondering how Adam had managed to win such a huge fish.

As I was taking this, Katie said what I'd been thinking: these flowers would make excellent plants for Literary Hell.

Where Katie Works
In case you're like me and you've been wondering. It's off of Mt. Hope, and it's very cool looking. She always manages to find the most lovely buildings to live / work / go to school in. Rochester, NY
